I began my music career in New York City as a singer/songwriter before starting the psychedelic rock band CHAPPO in 2009 with guitarist Chris Olson. What started as a duo quickly expanded into a quartet with Zac Colwell and David Feddock. Doors opened when “Come Home,” a song recorded in our East Village living room, was featured in an Apple iPod commercial. Pitchfork praised its “excellently overstuffed garage-psych sound,” and the track has since amassed more than 25 million streams worldwide.
CHAPPO went on to tour extensively across the US, UK, and Canada, headlining shows and opening for acts like The Flaming Lips, Mac DeMarco, of Montreal, Lucius, and Imagine Dragons. We performed at major festivals including Bonnaroo, Osheaga, SXSW, CMJ, and Dot to Dot (UK), earning a reputation for theatrical, high-energy shows.
To date, CHAPPO has released three full-length albums and several EPs. Our debut, Moonwater (Majordomo Records), drew comparisons to the Pixies with “just enough psych-swirls to stay groovy,” according to Spin. We followed with Future Former Self (Votiv Music), a genre-bending concept album, and most recently Do It, recorded entirely to tape with producers John Vanderslice and David Feddock at Tiny Telephone Studio.
Our music has been featured in The Big Bang Theory, HBO’s Crashing and Hung, among others, as well as several independent films.
